seaside family session in san francisco | corpus christi photographer
When I first announced my travel dates to California, Tatum was a the first momma to reach out to me to book her session! Right from the start it felt like talking to someone I've known for years and we seemed to be totally in sync planning for our time together. It was more than just about her location and what they were wearing, it was the moments she wanted to capture and connections in her family! She wanted her wrinkles to show, her babe's dreads to be seen, and the closeness between her and her hubby. It made my heart leap! I hadn't been to the Bay Area since when I first moved away 20 years ago. The feeling of nostalgia washed over me during my entire time on the coast! The green leafy trees, sharp succulents that covered the dunes, and brown sand reminded me of all the times I crossed the Golden Gate Bridge to spend the sunny days at the beach with my parents.
I was staying in closer to San Francisco and woke up hours before dawn to get ready for the drive to Pescadero Beach! It was still dark as I made my way out to the coast but could see the lights twinkling over the water from the lakes I crossed and rolling hills of grass. It was a cloudy overcast day, but it made for such beautiful light during Tatum's family session! It was so great to finally meet her and her loved ones, her husband and baby girl. Tatum wanted to take her little girl's lead and if you know me or my sessions, that is how I want them all to be! They explored the beachside, digging in the sand, climbing the rocks, and checking out the small tidal pools. We made our way to an area of greenery where they danced to worship music, before making our way back to the rocky shore. Tatum and Bryce loved on each other so tenderly, not worried about how close I was to capture their intimacy!
Kerlyn is wonderful!!! The whole process up to the shoot I felt so at ease with her and really felt like she got to know me and my family well, with the intention to fully capture who we were. When it came to the actual shoot she was so gentle in directing us and was all for letting our little one lead the way. It made it such an enjoyable experience. When we got our pictures I couldn't stop looking at them!!! Each time I looked I saw with different eyes and saw more and more layers!!! I was so moved and grateful for the way she had so carefully payed attention to who we were. I will cherish them for ever.
As I'm writing this, I'm reminiscing on how wonderful my entire time was in California. I've been blessed some incredible clients this year, that lead their sessions with adventure, close connections, and happy moments. They trusted me to do my thing, running around to capture these moments, and allowed me to help plan the right location and timeless outfits that matched their personalities! I want to always breathe storytelling into images that capture the way we feel about our loved ones and about life. Its a huge journey, this one we're all leading, and it comes with so many emotions, amazing moments, and hurdles that allow us to grow. Its beautiful and grateful doesn't even begin to describe the magical people I get to know along the way, the friendships that have been made, and the art I love to create.
