storytelling forest family session in san francisco
Before I met Alyssa and her tribe, I already knew how encouraging, warm, and full of life they were! We met online through an Instagram group, where I continued following her incredible work. Seriously give her a follow (@featherandnorth) and see all the magical weddings she captures! As we started planning her session, she knew she wanted me to capture the happiness in their family, from every smile to laugh. I was SO excited to meet them in person and to photograph the memories they made together!
We decided on the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve as our location, where the forest met the ocean. Once there, we knew we wanted to stay amongst the cypress trees, where the sun made the tall grass glow! They were so easy going and it was like I wasn't there at all, just a fun day taking in the time spent together. Alyssa's son, Drew, was as sweet as pie and completely loving to his mom and dad, it made me miss my own boy back in Texas! We related over the tiny frog I caught earlier in the day while I was scouting the location and like any boy he was ready to explore. They made there way across the park stopping from one spot to another, telling jokes, and letting their joy shine through!
Alyssa and Andy were completely in sync as I pulled them aside to document their sweet relationship. They danced together as the sun bounced off their bodies, her gorgeous hair flowing in the wind, while Drew collected sticks and pine cones in the background. I adored the way Andy looked at Alyssa, so proud and full of love. Honestly I could go on and on about how incredible they all were together! As the sun started to set the cypress trees started to glow bright orange, it lit up the entire forest! We made our way down the trail that led to the beach, where Drew wanted to spend the rest of their evening. I'm forever grateful for their trust in me to capture these moments! My San Francisco trip could not have been filled with better families, who freely loved on each other and had hearts of gold! Not only was I able to capture memories for them, but I was able to make my own through our time spent together!
