Sunny Treasure Island Family Session in Laguna Beach
It was a short plane ride from South Texas to sunny Southern California, then I made another short trip from Los Angeles to Laguna Beach to meet Naomi and her family! We ventured to one of their favorite locations by Treasure Island Park and explored the incredible rock formations by the sea. I can't gush about their family enough! There was so much joy and happiness in their entire family and I felt incredibly lucky to have the chance to meet them. You could instantly tell how much love they all had for each other and the deep respect they showed in each sweet word and embrace.
They went with the flow as we moved around the park to explore their little spots! I watched them dance in the warm sun and chase each other by the breaking waves. I had forgotten how quickly the tide comes in in California and got soaked up to my waist! Naomi's husband, Damon, had two of the sweetest photo requests for me! One being portraits of his gorgeous wife and the second being holding her in his arms. I couldn't help but internally squeal with the sweetness of it all, I adored them and their lasting love!
Each of their three kids had such personalities, unique in their own way, but as loving and caring as the next. They got those traits straight from their parents! As the sun started setting we made out way back up to the parking lot. I joined them for dinner where we talked more about Naomi's gorgeous work! We had been following each other on Instagram (@3bebesmama) and I am always so inspired by her creative art. I loved how supportive her whole family was of her dreams and talent and am SO excited to see what she creates daily. We'll be meeting again in Portland for the Elevate + Grow Workshop I'll be teaching at and I'm so thankful to have made another friend in this community!
I came across Kerlyn’s beautiful work on Instagram and fell in love with it. Her ability to capture connection and emotion stood out to me. When I saw that she was coming to CA, I was thrilled! We hadn’t had family photos taken since my little girl was a newborn, and I really wanted to have photos of us taken before my kids get any bigger. I homeschool my three children, and we’re a very close knit and affectionate family. The relationships that I have with my husband and children is what is most important to me. I had expressed to Kerlyn that more than anything, I wanted the connection and love that we share as a family captured. When we met her, I felt like I already knew Kerlyn and her beautiful heart from following her on Instagram. We all felt comfortable with her and like we could be ourselves. The beach is one of my favorite places as the ocean has always been where my soul feels so much peace and joy. We were able to have our session at one of our favorite beaches which was just amazing. My kids had fun during the session and we truly enjoyed our time at the beach and with Kerlyn. When I received our photos from Kerlyn, my heart was so moved. She captured the joy, the love and the deep connections that we share with each other so beautifully! She captured us as we are. Our session was a dream come true, and I’ll always cherish our beautiful photos. Kerlyn has a love and passion for what she does and it shines through in her work. I’m so grateful we had the opportunity to have our photos taken by her.
Being hired to capture these intimate moments and memories for mothers and their families is always more than that to me. Because I put my heart into every piece of what I do, it makes me emotional to reminisce over another family's photos. We make memories while we're together and I get to know just a little part of their lives. I get to meet magical people and connect with them over their love for each other. I am so grateful to be able to do what I do and to meet all the amazing families I do!
